BANQUET SPEAKER
Catherine Cavagnaro
Catherine Cavagnaro specializes in teaching spins and aerobatics at the Franklin County Airport in Sewanee, Tennessee and pens the monthly Flying Smart column for AOPA Pilot Magazine. She also serves the Nashville FSDO as a designated pilot examiner.
Catherine is the Gaston Swindell Bruton Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at Sewanee the University of the South and enjoys using those skills to learn what makes airplanes fly. The FAA awarded her the Safety Representative of the Year in 2018 and Flight Instructor of the Year in 2020.
Catherine was inducted into the Tennessee Aviation Hall of Fame in 2018 and into the National Flight Instructor Hall of Fame in 2022. She especially loves flying her Bonanza with her sons to 49er games around the country.
