No meeting for September 2nd due to the Labor Day Holiday. Although, I hope to see you at one or more of the many chapter gatherings during September.
Several members are either flying or driving to camp at the annual Triple Tree Aerodrome event in Wood- ruff SC during the first week of September. Several plan to fly and camp at AOPA’s Fly-in at Tullahoma TN on September 13th & 14th and on September 28th we will be holding a Young Eagles event at Tellico Plains 85TN airport. We will need several volunteers for this Y/E event. We have several pilots lined up to fly the kids but could use a few more. Contact our new Y/E coordinators Steve Wickizer or Linwood Stevenson to volunteer. For contact info read the article introducing our newest Y/E Coordinators.
At our board meeting last week we conducted business starting with a treasurer’s report from John Haynes, discussed the upcoming Y/E event at Tellico Plains airport, we introduced our new Y/E coordina- tors, we introduced Jimmy Hunt as our first ever Flight Planner, and Sam Robinson reported on a future Y/E event with Cirrus Aircraft and a company tour. We are still looking for an assistant to Secretary Gary Picou to help manage our membership for renewals and expirations and check that all members are signed up for the newsletter. Let me or him know if you might be interested in volunteering for this posi- tion.
Over the last few years you may have noticed that we have made some new positions. To run a good vol- unteer organization like ours I feel it is important for many members to be involved and to share the workload so to speak. We appreciate all the members who have stepped forward to help wherever they can.
