Message from Your President
No July meeting. Instead we are holding our 3rd annual Fly-In Cookout on July 14th at Jerry Depew’s
Hangar at Riley Creek Airport (12TN) in Kingston. For more info on this read about it in this newsletter
and make sure you RSVP me at [email protected] or by phone at 865-376-2053.
Eleven of us flew into Deerfield Airpark on Norris Lake for a cookout a few weeks ago. This is the 3rd year
our chapter has been invited. George Polos and Jay Wischkaemper got to hitch a ride by contacting me
directly. We sometimes have empty seats flying to various functions like breakfast at different airports
and I would like to get those seats filled. Must be my airline days when we always tried to get the highest
load factor possible. So if you are interested in a ride contact me directly and I will try coordinating a ride
for you with one of our pilots.
Our chapters VMC/IMC club is turning out to be very successful and may be running out of room. This
club meets at MNV Monroe County Airport the second Saturday of the month at 10am right after the
breakfast is served for the pilots flying in and others driving in for the food and now staying over to attend
the safety meetings. For more info on this contact Ken Strong at [email protected] or Tom Roush
at [email protected]. Several of our members will be making their annual trip to Oshkosh in the next
few weeks. Some flying and others will be driving. It sounds like this year’s AirVenture will be a great one.
They are expecting record attendance this year. GA is really growing.
I am looking forward to seeing all of you at the cookout Sunday at 2PM July the 14th.
George Douglas, President ,EAA Chapter 17
